We are delighted to invite you to the David Ticchi National Federation of the Blind (NFB) Cambridge Annual Walk on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fresh Pond Reservoir in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The David Ticchi Walk is much more than a fundraiser. It is an investment in people. Your participation and generosity help blind children build confidence and independence, students pursue higher education, adults develop leadership skills, and families connect with a community that believes blindness does not define a person’s future.

About the David Ticchi Walk

In 2019, we renamed the Cambridge Chapter Walk in honor of our beloved leader and mentor, David Ticchi. This is a tribute to David—not a memorial—as David continues to inspire us every day.

For many of us, the National Federation of the Blind became the place where we first realized our dreams were not limited by blindness. We found mentors who believed in us, friends who encouraged us, and opportunities that changed the course of our lives.

I attended my first convention expecting financial assistance for college, but I left with something far more valuable. I found blind friends, mentors, and living proof that blind people could become engineers, scientists, teachers, parents, and leaders. The National Federation of the Blind fundamentally transformed who I am."

Your Support Makes a Difference

The Cambridge Chapter of the NFB has been able to help fund important programs and local initiatives thanks to the generosity of contributors like you. Funds raised through the David Ticchi Walk help support:

• Braille Education Literacy and Learning Academy (BELL): Empowering blind children to build confidence, develop Braille literacy and life skills such as cooking and crafting, and learn alongside blind mentors.
• Scholarships: Providing support and opportunities for blind students pursuing higher education.
• Advocacy: Advancing equality, accessibility, and opportunities for blind people at the local, state, and national levels.
• Leadership Development: Supporting seminars, mentoring, and programs for emerging leaders and blind students.
• Annual State Convention: Supporting the largest gathering of blind people in Massachusetts for training, information, fellowship, advocacy, support, and democratic governance.
• Outreach and public education: Connecting blind people and their families with resources, encouragement, positive role models, and the Federation community.

Together, these programs provide blind people of all ages with opportunities to learn, lead, advocate, build meaningful relationships, and pursue the lives they want.
